The very first thing is employees need to do is learn how to greet a walk in customer, properly because thats the first impression you get. I cant count how many times i walked into a bisiness said hello and get a silence, noatter how good your product or food is this will determine if i come back or not.

Pls we want to hear how to systemize our restaurant like your title says. Not hearing how you took over your restaurant years ago. RUclipsrs should learn to go staight to the point, it makes some of us just click exit button🤧
We can't raise to the occasion we sink to the level of our training
Systems are also a consistent set of principles. Which is also important Because replication in employees is easier than replication in management Because managers should be able to reliably change systems or processes based on your ideals in the event of a sudden change ( or gradual change in circumstances) Teach the managers your principles and a system of reporting changes they make why and a period of determining whether it creates a positive or negative impact is important But make sure in the manager training there is an aspect of understanding systems THINKING. Hire well Train better. A good server is not always a good manager. Unless they buy into the big picture.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts! You're absolutely right-consistent systems make it easier for employees to follow and managers to adjust when needed. Training managers to think critically about these systems and report on any changes is super important for keeping things running smoothly. And you're spot on about hiring and training-getting managers who truly understand and believe in the big picture is key. Appreciate your input!

True. I applied as a busboy for my first job, but in my first day the owner had a change of mind and asked me if I could work in the kitchen since that’s where he really needed people so I told him I was willing to give it a try. So I was thrown into the understaffed (there was only 1 linecook working there) kitchen with 0 line cook experience in a busy Friday during peak season. And although I did learn how to work in all the 3 kitchen stations (linecook, sushi bar & sushi rolls), I do believe that if I had someone giving me proper guidance I would had learn way faster.
It sounds like you embraced the challenge and learned a lot on the job. A good manager should provide proper guidance and support to help their team grow and succeed. Good luck with your career!

Majority of coffee sales happen between 6:00 and 10:00 am! 8:00 is late for a cafe to open if they think their sales are low. :)

So how does this stack up against Micros or Positouch. I work at a concert venue and we use micros and we honestly are starting to really hate it and I'm excited to use a new system I've never used before. Especially cuz we have handhelds now and that's going to make it so easy

Weak staff can often reflect weak management. However, there can be various factors at play, including training, resources, and organizational culture. It's important for management to support and empower their team members to succeed.
When I worked for Brinks I learned a lot from this book about employee theft: Solving Employee Theft: New Insights, New Tactics by James W. Bassett
